3D Viewer

2 min read

Overview

Enable the various departments involved (design, production, quality, purchasing) to directly view CAD files in order to effectively manage design, manufacturing, and procurement activities.

Quick Start

  • Load a GLB file into an attachment attribute of a board entity.
  • Open the 3D viewer from a view displaying the attachment attribute.
  • View the part with basic features (zoom, rotation, etc.).
  • Create an instant preview visible directly in a Suivi view (a thumbnail).

3D Viewer Features

🔹 Navigation and Manipulation

  • Zoom

Allows you to zoom in on the part to observe its details.

  • Manual Rotation

Allows you to rotate and move the part to explore it from different angles.

🔹 Display and Presentation

  • Background change

Changes the background to improve visibility, especially for low-contrast elements (e.g., black tires on a black background).

  • Automatic rotation

Triggers a continuous 360° rotation for a complete view of the part.

  • Full screen

Activates full screen mode for better immersion and optimal handling comfort.

🔹 Visual Production and Sharing

  • Screenshots

Allows you to capture the current view, useful for catalogs, communication, or sharing between departments.

  • Thumbnail Creation

Automatically generates a representative image of the part, used in lists or views to improve readability (replaces a generic icon).

Prerequisites / Functional Limitations

  • GLB file type (ASM or PRT type ready to be viewed, generated from CAD files, there are no other 3D part assembly formats with metadata.
  • Maximum file size: 128 MB.
  • The 3D viewer is exclusively intended for viewing and presenting parts and assemblies. It does not allow any modification, editing, or use for production purposes.

Use Cases

🔹Design and Engineering

  • Design Management

Enables visualization of parts and assemblies during the design phase to facilitate exchanges between teams (engineering, project managers).

🔹Manufacturing and Industrialization

  • Transfer to Manufacturing Department

Facilitates visual sharing of products with production teams without requiring CAD tools.

🔹Quality

  • Quality Management

Allows visual identification of product issues (non-conformities, defects, misunderstandings).

🔹Purchasing and Procurement

  • Component Verification

Helps visually validate parts and components in purchasing and supply processes.

🔹Global Management (Lightweight PLM)

  • Suivi of the product lifecycle

Enables a cross-functional visual view of the product throughout its lifecycle: design, methods, manufacturing, purchasing, quality.

  • Decision Support

Provides managers and executives with visual support to guide activities and facilitate understanding of technical subjects.

🔹Practical Use Cases

  • Machine Sales Process

Visually present products to clients or partners.

  • Support for operational exchanges

Quickly identify a part via its code or name during technical discussions or problem resolution.
